Cost-Share
The Conservation District administers the agricultural cost-share program for the State of Virginia. A variety of best management practices exist to enable agriculture producers to upgrade their operations in order to promote water and soil conservation, enhance the productivity of crops and animals and provide for a sustainable economic base for Virginia.
Cost-share Amounts:
- 75% cost-share is available for most conservation practices

The DCR BMP Manual provides information about the various programs available to producers as well as outlining eligibility requirements. There are over 50 BMPs available to ag producers that cover the full spectrum of agricultural operations such as:
- Controlling erosion
- Stream fencing and alternative water source development
- Restoring riparian areas
- Planting cover crops
- Managing pastures
- Managing nutrients and animal waste

Technical Publications:
Low interest loans are available for agricultural producers to install best management practices with 3% interest rates currently.
